Road Racing and Speed Proposal
It's obvious there are strong feelings about excessive speed and road racing. Tempers and words are rising. That's not what this forum is supposed to be about. Let's have the admin. start a new category...."Speed and Road Racing" for ie. You guys can post your exploits and get your hard ons there. Anything re. speed and RR posting in here is OT and moved. I can't speak for anyone else but in return I would promise NEVER to post on that forum. I can't see myself even visiting it. So what do you say admin, speed and rrs and everyone else?

Please do not confuse road racing with street racing.
One is held on a circuit, closed from traffic and is a controlled atmosphere. There usually is something at stake to be won.
The other, is not, and usually only involves pride or a personal bet.
I would say pretty much everyone here has illegally sped at one time or another, or continues to. Heck, I was ticketed (but not convicted) recently, and I'm a safety nazi.
People will do what they want to do. We can continue to segment the interests here, but I actually like the diversity of different interests in the posts in one forum. I don't approve of it, so I don't post to it either. I guess it's my way of voting.
I don't think the moderators should have a seperate forum for illegal racing. It would look like they condone it, and let's face it, it doesn't look good to the sponsors.

I agree with GTRPower - if you get a street and road racing forum, then you'll have all these "kill" stories. Why they are exciting at the time, they do not necessarily come across as being safe in any way. While some street racing, out in the middle of no where, _can_ be. (not to say it is because of the lack of supervision and ambulances should anything wrong happen)
Road racing isn't about "kill" stories, its about learning the limits of the car and competing against others on a controlled circuit where the cars only go one way. Its entirely different.

I don't street race and I don't speed excessively... usually doing 75 in a 70, etc... I don't agree with street racing, I think it's, well stupid. But having said that... I think that if someone posts a racing story, just ignore it. I don't reply because that's what the posters is searching for... they want someone to say "good kill", "great run", etc. I'd say just ignore it... they will do what they want... we can only hope they don't learn the hardway.

I agree with you Dmark. I hope the admins set up a "kill" section. I've checked in on other boards, including Superhonda, and note that a substantial percentage of posts concern street racing. Tacky and droning. Fungible. Boring.
BTW, I understand that just about everyone on this board probably does engage in some kind of speed contest on a regular basis, even partial throttle getaways from the light dusting your neighbors to the next light qualifies. Most folks have sprinted from a stop light to 60 or so, conditions permitting, on fairly desolate multi lane roads against some other car. The racing stories of extreme high speed runs and top speed runs on public roads are another smoke.
Just my 2 cents.

I think a dedicated "racing/speeding" forum is a bad idea for a couple of reasons:
1) I think in general S2K owners are a little more mature than the folks over at Superhonda and Honda-Acura. Have you ever noticed there wasn't a lot of interaction between our forum and the other forums on those boards? If we have a dedicated forum for street racing/kills/speeding then we legitimize it which demeans all of us.
2) The reasons stated requesting this forum are because some members are offended reading those types of posts. Well, if being offended at a certain type of post warrants a new forum then we're gonna have a whole bunch of new forums. At the same time we set up the racing/kills forum we better set up an SUV bashing forum so Sondra and Greg can avoid it and not get offended at those of us who express our dislike of those monstrocities. Personally, I get annoyed seeing all of the posts from new owners who don't read the manual when their check engine light comes on at 6k miles. Maybe we should have another forum for that. I suggest as many others have that if you are offended by a certain type of post you skip it.

Actually I agree with Strike to some degree.
Feedback is critical to open dialog. If someone does something and posts about it and is critisized, that is feedback. Whether you agree or not is not the issue but rather that opinions and views are expressed, good or bad. That is what makes this site different. Simply following the design of other sites is not the solution. The solution is to have open and mature dialogue as we have.
While you may be annoyed by such stories, your comments and opinions can and do effect the actions of others. They offer the feedback which permits others to reevaluate their attitudes and opinions. Without this exchange there is no value to having a forum at all. The nature of a forum, and the philosophy I have, is that it is a multidirectional exchange of ideas, opinions and thoughts.
