Default Search

I try and try and use it, but it very rarely comes up with what I want.

Most of the time it just hangs up and gives an error, the rest of the time it comes out with pages of irrelevant stuff!

I know the first thing people will say is that im using the wrong words, or not using the advance options, but ive tried all that!

Search function's on other BBS's are really very good, and it cuts down on repeat topics big time.

For starters it would be handy to be able to search by thread Title...

Anyone else share this view? I use it a lot before posting anything, and need it for researching stuff.

The site is terrible considering we pay to use it. Search is appalling, pages take a long time to load, and half the time the whole site is unavailable. The improvements in service that were promised with the last version upgrade, have failed to materialise IMO

But not everyone does, Neil.....

The site search engine is a constant bugbear. It's less than optimal but it's not completely hopeless, if you persevere with it.

Most BBS's have some commercial gain whether it be via subscription or advertising. The 2 sites I regularly use are scoobynet and 22b.com and they are both free, and have excellent search functions.

I would maintain therefore, that whther we pay or not probably isnt the issue. Im no IT person but surely it cant be hard to fix??

No, but I do, and if I pay a commercial organisation for a service I expect the service to be good. Otherwise I take my business elsewhere.

I sometimes get the feeling that this site is run like my beloved Newcastle United. They don't really care about their customers, because the company knows they can get away with it.
