hey guys,

any chance of coming up with a new search engine for the site? something that offers a bit more control would be great. some improvement suggestions would include:
- quotable search strings ("audi tt" returns only matches for the full string as opposed to all instances of either or both),
- true boolean support or at least AND, OR support and NOT support,
- exclusions (don't search Off Topic for example),
- date range.

i think it would encourage folks to actually use search.

yeah the search engine is a weak link in this software. I'll take a look at how I can make it better.
