Default Search still goofy?

For the last couple days I've tried to search for a previous thread that I'd posted to. I don't see it in the Active threads (which of course can simply mean no one else posted to it and it buried itself). However, I *thought* I posted to it. Soooo, I figured I could just perform a Search and use a keyword I know I'd typed (in this case I've tried separately "Sport" and "Distinto") along with poster "w1ngman" and selected "in the last 30 days." And I get...bubcuss....nada . So I figured I'd widen things a bit...no keyword, just "w1ngman" as poster in last 30 days. That has (in the past) proven to show me all my recent threads I'd posted to. Now?...it gives me 3 threads in the last couple days...but its also definitely *not* including all the threads I've posted to in the last week.

Soooo, it begs the question: Is search still goofy?

This was reported the other day too cthree is aware of it - it seems not to be adding all posts to the search database or something.

Try this method and see if you can find it:

Search is always goofy. It works better at some times than others. Search is performed from a copy of the main database located on an entirely separate server. Searching really bogs down the database so running them both on the same sever killed the site. On a separate server it will only kill other searches but not the site as a whole.

The link which keeps both the master and slave databases in sync and up to date is a bit fragile. There is some amount of fault tolerance but if the link is broken for any extended period of time then it's toast. I may need to rebuild the search copy from scratch which is an ugly and time consuming task I don't look forward to. It could take a whole day to do.

Not sure if it's related or not, but I have been experiencing A LOT of issues with the search functionality.

I get the following error:

That may be a transient database error. They happen from time to time. Is this still a problem? What were you searching for?

I don't think I've had a successful search the last 3 or so days.

I've been usually searching by keyword of "deal", "invoice", "2005 invoice" or "good deal" with everything else default most of the times.

In fact, prior to posting this, I got the issue again.

In the meantime, try using Google and type in:

"site: s2ki.com xx xx"

xx = search terms

That works a WHOLE lot better then trying to use the search tool.
