Default selling an item? how about listing a PRICE?

I can't be the only one who can't stand the "throw me offers", "make offer" on fs threads. These people must have a # in their head when they post, so POST THE DAMN # and worst case, say OBO.

new rule, please

- I have brought this up before and talked with a MOD about this...
- I was just suggesting that this isn't eBay so a price should be posted up front...
- it will make everything a lot smoother, maybe even save bandwidth since everyone would be able to see the price right away instead of leaving a PM or posting a reply...

As a potential buyer, why would I bid against myself? It makes no sense. The seller should be required to list an asking price. If not, then his/her thread should be removed.

- here we go.. from another forum (the rules):

"Post Your Price, NO Auction Type Sales! - Running your sale like an auction is not acceptable in the Sale Forums. This is not EBAY, last we checked it was 'S2KI.COM' (edited). We find this to be a highly dishonest form of selling. There is nothing stopping the seller from telling one member he/she got a higher offer through Private Messaging or Email, when they really didn't. So in short, you must list sale prices in your sale post! No further explination needed. If you post an auction type sale, it will be removed and you will be flagged with a warning to your account."

I agree for the most part but what about when a newb like myself has NO idea what to start pricing at? I start too high I get flamed about trying to rape people, I start too low and rape myself.

Or just close the For Sale section and let e-Bay make all the money.

That's what the search function is for.

If everyone is required to list an asking price, you can search for threads selling the same or similar items, and price your item accordingly.

When it works.

I just tried "voodoo knob" in the "for sale" section and got an error.

Was that too much to ask the search engine, jeez?
