My wife is in an MBA program and taking some internet courses. When she did her last course evaluation, she commented on the (lack of) quality of the forum software. To give them an example of how to do it right, she used S2000 Online. Good work, cthree!

Wow, cool

No it's called vBulletin from a company named JelSoft. It's pretty nice. I have that latest version and will be switching over soon. It's even better.

Cthree, you have done a great job with the site. This software looks a lot like what I see on other sites like off-topic.net among others. Is this software package the de facto standard or do they all just look alike?

Many of them look alike to some degree... Ultimate BB, Ultraboard to name a couple.

I looked but I didn't see a concise list of new features. I can tell you a few things:

This is a new feature that will allow you to tailor what you read. There is a buddy list and you can quickly see who's online. There is an IM facility so you can send your buddies an instant message. You can subscribe to forums you are interested in and only see those. You can subscribe to threads and monitor just those and see when they change. You can set your preferences to not show peoples sigs. You can have an "avatar" or picture under your name in your posts. You can turn off showing images and just show a link instead. You can set other viewing options as well like how many threads per page and such.
More generally the posting editor has helpers for codes and smiles.

That just a quick rundown of a few of the new features and goodies, there are many more.
