If you have a digital camera, it would have come with a program for "doctoring" up your photos. Some will have a downsizing feature. Also, most windows programs will include software for manipulating pictures, one of which is to scale down. My avatar started out to be a full 8.5 X 11
page big. Just keep playing with it till it's small enough. It's been a while so I can't remember which program it was.
