I'm not sure you're understanding the rep system.

Hopefully that will be the speed increase n the background that is needed to bump things back to a reasonable speed which then gives you the legroom to work in the background without affecting how this runs for us.

Appreciate the time taken to list out what's wrong, what's being fixed and the chance to see how you're addressing it - for those of us who work in IT. it makes a lot of sense.
I've already switched out the http server, swapping apache/mod_php for nginx/fastcgi and the results are clear. The new application server is a Dell R415 with dual Opteron 4184 CPUs, 16GB of RAM, 2 x 300GB 15K RPM SAS hard drives and redundant power supplies. It will sit behind the NGINX web server we have now and run all the PHP scripts via PHP's FPM (FastCGI Process Manager) while the front end NGINX webserver will handle static files and caching duties.

I still have some wrinkles to fix with the NGINX configuration like adapting all of the URL rewriting rules which are very important for gallery images (all the red X's in peoples signatures). The improvement is vast and will only get better with the new server.

Getting this (mostly) resolved means that the thing that has been blocking 95% of my view and commanding 100% of my attention is lifting and I can start to put some energy into the other items on that must-do list...

PS anyone with nginx rewrite experience? I could use the help!

I don't understand the misunderstanding. Any chance of a sentence? I know a paragraph is pushing it but throw me a bone...

Go directly to the url for mail: https://www.s2ki.com/mail/src/index.php rather than the short form. I still have some URL rewriting rules to sort out for the new server software.

Also, quit your browser and try again if you keep end up at the homepage. It is fixed but I had to quit the browser to verify that

Thanks for the update and for your diligence, CThree.

I have read your battle plan.

Now that I know that:
(A) you have a battle plan

and

(B) you feel the same way I feel about MyS2k's elemental importance to the site...you have absolutely won me over.

I will now be patient and hopeful for the day S2ki strides back to it's glory.
