MyS2K -> Board Settings -> uncheck DST in effect -> Save Settings

It's stupid. I've added it to Yogi's bug list to fix and make this automatic but for now it's a manual setting.

It's not a bug, that's how it should be . Automatic changeover sounds easy, but there are issues - it is more complicated then it looks. We can't do a blanket DST changeover for everyone. Some parts of the US don't observe DST, so we need to know who they are (by zip code, preferably). That's easy, the real problem is when you move outside of the US. Some countries observe it, some don't (I'm sure they have a few that don't follow their country as well). But the biggest problem is WHEN DST is observed - it takes affect at different dates around the world. The only solution I've thought of so far (haven't thought much about it, mind you) is two have you tell us when your DST starts/ends, that way the software will know when to adjust, if at all. I think it's just easier to go into MyS2K and uncheck a textbox...

I see your point, but Windows updates the clock automatically, but confirms that's what I want to do. The program already knows what time zone we're in.

Anyway, like you said, it's no big deal to check or uncheck a box. Besides, I know less than nothing about programming.

Windows update doesn't work for the exceptions. This (http://www.twinsun.com/tz/tz-link.htm) site has a lot of information on it...I think it's possible to do it, but in the end it might be more of a pain for users than not...but I'll have to look into it more.

The solution is to ask the user not whether DST is in effect but rather if they want it observed. If you say yes then DST will be calculated for you and automatically adjusted. If you say no then it won't be.

Make sense?

Yes, but the point is that it's caluclated differently for different locations, and somtimes even if they're in the same time zone. That tz thing might be able to figure out all the inconsistencies though - http://www.twinsun.com/tz/tz-link.htm .

Sorry but saying it's difficult to implement is a cop out. I haven't read the article you link to so my comments will be very general. But......Figure out your core audience. If it's in the US there is consistency in how DST is implemented here yes? So implement it accordingly. If you have a significant audience in another region/country, like I know we do in the UK, implement it for them following their rules. Figure out how many audiences you have and work to implement it automatically in as many as is practical. If you have one user from Zimbabwe and it's a difficult solution maybe you ask them to do it manually. However, I'm on a few different message boards, and have been for a few years, and this is the first one (including previous versions of S2KI) that's asked me to manually change my DST settings. It's a ridiculous request given this day and age.
