Default Trouble Uploading pics

I just got back from Wake the Dragon '06 and wanted to share my pictures from the event. I created a new album to load the pictures into, clicked on bulk upload and dropped in my pics. They appeared to upload, but never showed up on the album.

I tried it again, with fewer pictures, and I got the same result.

This morning, I tried again with just a couple of pics and it failed the same way.

I am running IE6 on WinXP, and have not ever had a problem uploading pics before.

Any suggestioins?

That "bulk upload" has never worked for me. It says something about needing "Active X control". I don't know if I've got it, but can't be bothered to download something I don't know what it is, so I do it 1 pic at a time.

Bulk upload doesn't work for you because you are refusing to load the applet which is what bulk upload is. You need to click accpet or yes or whatever it is and then it works.

I will look into the problem with uploaded images not working.

Is it that "Active X" thing? I just loaded it and "accepted" it. Still didn't work. I'll try it again later.

It's a Java Applet that has been signed. You just need to accept or trust or whatever it and it will open a popup window with what looks like a file folder in it. If you get no window you may have popup blocking enabled.

I just uploaded a bunch of images and had no problem. Can you describe to me a little bit about what you are uploading?

Are they JPG images How big are the files? What size are the images (how many megapixels)? How many are you uploading at a time? How long does the upload take.

When you begin the upload you should see a progress bar in a window. When it gets to 100% done on the meter it will just seemingly sit there doing nothing. At that time it is generating the thumbnails to show in your album. How long does that take? Have you tried uploading them 3 or 4 at a time?

I tried it one more time and it worked.

All of the pictures had been resized to 800x600 and were on average about 75K with the largest being 125k.

I did recieve the status bar everytime, and I waited for it to complete AND close (I have noticed that the time/byte count is rarely accurate.) Then nothing in the album.

When it did work, I recieved an error in the pop-up window (the target for dropping the pictures into.) After a successful upload it usually lists all the pics that have been uploaded, but this time said that the Server contained no data. However, a refresh of the album view revealed all the pictures, and they work when posting them in a thread.

Hmm. I guessing it's a thumbnail generation problem. It works ok when it works but can be fragile. Once I get the new servers online I see if I can take a closer look.

I go through all the steps and even get to the meter. It goes to 100% for each picture, but nothing appears in the photo album. No biggie. I'll just keep doing it one at a time.
