Is this the way "search" is supposed to work?

If I do a search for messages "Written By User" and I specify the date range as "Later Than" a certain date (yes, I remember to uncheck the "All Dates" box first), why does the search engine return all threads that has at least one post by the requested user and there was at least one post after the given date (but not necessarily by the requested user)?

Why can't the search engine do a simple search using the parameters I gave it? Can this be fixed? It is giving back way too many threads, most of which are useless because they do not contain any messages posted by the requested user within the date range. This is especially annoying for long threads (multiple pages) because I must scan them to see if there was a post by the requested user after the date. Someone please fix this.

Thanks for pointing this out. I can't guarantee when or if this will get fixed however. Member's issues get the highest priority.

But how will we know when problems are fixed? Is there a methodology for announcing updates to the site or must we just keep trying things to see if the problems have been fixed? By the way, thanks for the great job keeping this site working.
