Just a quick question...
Do threads like the one I link below have any correlation with the site being sluggish at times or does it tend to help the site out more by adding to the site wide PPD boosting ad revenue?

Whoring is a drain on resources but I'm not sure it has a great deal to do with any performance issue, at least not in a big way.
It does nothing for revenue as we don't make any more or less money based on PPD, page views or the like. Sponsors pay a flat rate and other ads are pay-per-click not pay-per-view.
There is a written rule that whoring belongs in the Corner only and an unwritten rule that the price for whoring is to be a member to offset the costs involved in allowing it. Members of the Corner have done a decent job of keeping both of those things in check (so far as I can tell).

Thanks for the response. That makes sense.
I happened upon this by noticing someone had made like over 800 posts in a single day and following the trail to that thread.
Thought it was pretty sad actually that someone could spend THAT much time in front of a computer posting smilies until I figured out that the people doing that must be running some type of bot to achieve PPD greatness

btw..
If you look at a lot of the participants of the Corner, you will see that they "pay to play". Many of them are Gold Members (or at least Members).
Also, there are similar threads to this in regional forums as well, not just in the Corner.

It always gripes my gut to see ppl complaining about site probs when they aren't willing to pony up. Pay to play is my motto.

but yes,
... if you look at the people wasting their time with the ppd games, they are members or gold members. There really isn't any policing it either so it runs kind of on its own. I'd love to get rid of the game since it clutters the Corner with junk but short of putting it in regional forums (which I'm sure COs would love
) I guess the Corner is the home for these games for now.
