Attention one and all. If you haven't seen this thread, take a quick read. Many members have this problem and are having it repaired under warranty.

It may seem like a small issue today, but if you are keeping your car for the forseeable future, you will want to get this fixed now while it is still covered under warranty. Rust never sleeps and I have seen older cars of various makes with rust spots in this area the size of dollar bills. I have seen rust that starts in this area extend onto the exterior surface of the car. Given enough time, the rust will corrode through the metal and the rubber plug will fall out and your trunk won't close properly.

Given enough time the Red Sox will win the World Series, too.

I really think its just a condensation issue and there was not enough paint around
the areas that have rusted....actually after closer examination it was more like a
rust stain. I dont think its that big of a deal....atleast not on mine i will sand the
area's tomorrow and repaint with the touch up paint. problem solved
