Default Problem with rev counter

I was wondering if anyone has experience a similar problem with their digital display. I noticed about a week ago near the red line of the rev counter it appears the colour is running, its the brighter orange as it would be if the revs were that high buy obviously they are not.
It appears to be worse when cold, I can only imagine the unit has had it and it will be quite costly to replace although I did get a years Honda care warranty when I purchased the car and hope it will be covered by that.

I'm certainly no expert but it looks like it's had it to me?

On the plus side if it is dead you could start exploring all sorts of digital read out options from Demon Tweeks Motorsport etc. A version of the Stack unit I had my Lotus could be good, or even one with a heads up display????

LCD displays can develop 'voids' if the seal between the two sheets of glass starts to fail - well, kind of air bubbles really - if there's no liquid crystal then the light shines through.
ie yes, aesthetically it's f****d though it should still be usable for a while yet though the void'll get bigger and bigger...

Is it the cold? Try blasting interior for 10 mins with hot air to see if it clears.

It may just be something that appears for the coldest days of the year (thus not a major issue).

If a permanent problem, I'd get replacement from scrapyard.

As sponga says, i have had NOT the same but a similar sitatuation and it was in the cold after it heated up it was fine.

Still, to be honest it still shouldnt happen in this time of weather, def a warranty job that sort of thing should not be happening on a 4 year old car.

I does improve when warm but not disappear completely, I think I will head down to my local dealer and start haggling for a replacement under the warranty.
