Does Anyone Remember the Bricklin SV1?
In my high school days someone in town drove one with the ugliest pumpkin orange paint job you've ever seen.
I was much more impressed by the Pantera in town. It was white at the nose and shifted gradually to dark blue at the tail. It looked great until the owner's 16 y.o. son wrapped it around a telephone pole. I couldn't believe he let the kid drive it to school regularly. More money than brains I guess.

Yes, I remember it. Wasn't it stainless steel or something?

Malcolm Bricklin the man who brought us Subaru and Yugo. When I first heard about the Bricklin sportscar and learned it had a ford V-8 (some had AMC mills) I figured it was a mini-pantera much like the sunbeam tiger was to the AC Cobra however upon further investigation I found out the car was engineered for safety. It had those funky bumpers which were urethane and energy and impact absorbing. The gull wing doors were considered a safety item as it was thought that they open out of the way of traffic. There was a tubular steel frame around the passenger compartment. The body was acrylic using colored acrylic bonded to the fiberglass body panels. Pretty funky ride.
