Default The Last 05 Drive

Well, today the sun was out bright and shiny and the temps up in the mid-50s. That sweet little S was screaming out bright and beautiful, begging for a run. I succumbed and took her out for her last run in 2005. I dropped the top in the garage before we even got to the driveway. She performed gloriously. I only drove about 30 miles, but it was probably the best 30 miles of my life. Oh, she screamed in joy as we took those curves. We did a little v-tecing here and there and much to my surprise (yeah, right), as we tore into those rpms, the speedometer crept higher and higher and she begged for more and more. Finally, the sun was getting low on the horizon and I knew the temperatures would drop, so we ambled on home. As we approached the home stretch, I opened her up one last time about a mile and half from home, and her high pitched whine was music to my ears!!! We crept into the driveway and I pressed the garage door opener and almost felt her sorrow as we drove into her bed. That's okay, Valentine, baby, we'll do this again . . . soon. There is nothing like a winter's ride, topdown with the wind tearing through your hair and the sound of an S-car engine. Wow. See you next year, little S-car.

Good for you Val. I was hoping to get a drive in today. Winter top down drives are among my favorites, but we got snow and ice today. I wanted to test out my new x-brace. We'll just have to wait until 2006.

Nice story Val. I drove mine a couple of days last week when it soared into the upper 30s. The rain we had previously had gotten rid of the salt we had previously. Today, more salt! I'm going to try to drive it more than I did last winter. I try to keep the car as nice as possible, washing and Zaino(ing) like a maniac, but I want to enjoy driving it more than I have.
Happy new year!

You are so lucky. My lil S has been crying for over a week now. We have had nothing but intense rain the past week and today is definitely no exception. Pouring rain, falling tree branches, flooding, fun, fun, fun. Can't wait for spring!

I took my last 05 drive in the grocery-getter mode -- but not just any old groceries.

I went out and picked a dozen jumbo stone crab claws for New Year's Eve dinner in a little while. One of the perks of living down here is that you can get fresh ones, and tonight seems like an appropriate time. HPH

Dr. C: found myself missing Santa Fe today and got very teary-eyed. We had a Santa Fe School of Cooking dinner tonight ( wahhhh) and +1 and I reminisced about the 2 months we spent there. One good thing about Santa Fe that will forever be in my memory banks: it was great meeting you. Happy New Year, Dr. C.

I took off the cover and put a battery charger on her up today. Been off insurance since 18 Nov. I'm envious for sure, but also happy for those of you able to partake. Enjoy and be safe.

I was a little reluctant to post this - for a minute.

Went for a little drive this morning, top up, no VTEC. Spent the better part of the day cleaning her up for the trip to Florida this weekend. Tomorrow, just the glass and leather and we're good to go. :Woo:

Happy New Year!
