If an alloy has a slight buckle, but balances up ok will it make a differeence you can tell? it a front alloy BTW
'Alloy for sale, no buckles'
I would've thought it would still drive iffy - the tyre would have uneven support round the rim. Could even be dangerous
(I've got a spare '02 front (with some kerbing to the rim and the faces of 2 spokes) sitting in the garage... could provide a 'straight' basis for a re-furb... )

it's very strange
when I buckled an alloy on the M5 recently, it was so bad that I needed tyre sealant to get a seal around the rim and it wouldn't take proper pressure
the rim must have been pushed in by nearly an inch!!!
the amazing thing was that (although driven carefully) there was no wheel wobble or brake judder at all
you should have seen the pikey fight for it at the tip
it was like a scene from Snatch

I had a buckled alloy on my last car following a front puncture which went straight through the tyre causing a rip about 2 inches long and a dent on the inside! I took it down the shop that fitted the alloys and they changed it to the back (to minimise vibration). It eventually got worse to the point where it was deflating every couple of days and the ride was awful. It failed the next MOT and at that point the alloys were no longer being made by the manufactrurer and I had to buy a complete set.
Personally, and in hindsight, I wouldn't risk it again.
