Default Help with 'bouncy' stock suspension

Hi, thanks for reading!

I've recently noticed my 92k miles stock AP1's handling isn't what it once was. My usual commute in my s2000 is via some back roads and never faster than 55mph, and everything seems fine. Interstate driving is usually with my wife and kid and in our family car. Recently I've ventured on the interstate with the s2000 though and something seems off.

I saw this description in another thread, and it seems to fit my situation perfectly, except it (along with most of the threads I found when searching) refers to a modded suspension:

Anyway, to describe the ride, it seems very "bouncy". It seems as if the car doesn't settle down very quickly over big bumps. Wouldn't this seems to indicate that the car is underdamped?
Now I will note my car is running on very low (though not corded) old all-season tires, and may not be properly aligned. Still, it seems aligned (tracks straight) and the tires seem to still work ok (grip during spirited turns seems fine, and I tested darting from side to side in my lane at 60mph tonight on a clear road and the car felt composed and good). The only issue is at higher speeds over any sort of road imperfection. The car seems to both bounce and become very unplanted, like the rear is being tossed about a bit.

Am I being silly for fretting about this before installing new tires and getting an alignment, or is there another item likely at fault?

Again, thanks for reading!

with that many miles your shocks are just due for a replacement.

as i do not know the current state of your shocks. i would assume they should still be fine with only 92k on stock springs. could it be just that u r not used to how she feels over bumps on the interstate?

ap1's r not the most composed feeling car when unsettled.

Too much rear toe will cause the back end to move around and feel unstable over bumps or asymmetric traction conditions. The MINIMUM spec rear toe (0.32deg total) is about the MAXIMUM that I would consider going with. Max spec rear toe is utter crap for handling and for tire wear. Check alignment, set rear toe to ~0.2-0.3 degrees total ( or ~1/16" to 1/8" total).

It could be the shocks, but you can check those by jouncing the corners of the car while parked (don't bend the front fenders!). Push down on a corner of the car and release. Should return to static position without any uppie/downy bounciness.

Shocks are the most likely culprit here.
