Default Rough ride

On this section of 85 the road has uneven horizontal sections that create bumps when driving over them. It's VERY noticeable, almost jarring. Is everyone's experience the same? Or are my shocks too stiff?

I think my jeep had a smoother ride over this area.

Thanks, if you took the time to think about what I'm asking!

section of Hwy 85 that I'm talking about

Yup that's a pretty rough section of road. And yes that's how the S is, do you have stock suspension?

Stock is rough. Aftermarket = bone jarring.

Yeah, the S stock suspension is pretty rough on 85, and I noticed that just the other day heading back from Sunnyvale. It also doesn't help that whatever texture/grooves are present in that highway are perfect for tires to bite into...I have to keep an extra strong hand on the wheel or the car will 'catch' and glide along with the grooves. It's actually more noticeable in my buddy's Civic, which is probably because of his all-season tires.

Long story short, 85 sucks. 280 is much nicer

Thanks guys, and yes, I have stock suspension. I would imagine softening the suspension would hurt the handling. But this is my daily commute so what about longer tires?

I'm not quite sure what you mean about longer tires. Are you talking about getting some tires with softer sidewalls? If so, you could do that, but you'd be sacrificing handling for ride quality. Can't have both.

True...had to drive to Gilroy today and realized just how smooth 85 south of 17 is. Seems like all the highways around here are patchy in some areas and great in others.
