Default Front OEM ride height too high after install

I had a friend install the OEM shocks and springs back onto the car. The rears look fine, but the fronts look much higher than they were before. There is about a 4-5 finger gap in the front. Do the springs need to settle or was there an error during installation? If you guys can help me out, I would really appreciate that. thanks

Was the suspension preloaded before all bolts were tightened?

i hate when shit like that happens. even if you tightened the lower strut bolt before lowering the car i dont think it would be that much higher if any, i think thats more sensitive subect but wrong springs? spring could settle 1/4 at most i believe...
