Hopefully BMW will be bringing it over to the US. The new 1 Series will not be exported here (weak us dollar and competition with the Mini brand). There is still hope that the 2 Series will be.

What BMW calls "modern surface treatment" I call overcomplicated, unthemed styling- BMW is rapidlly becoming the new Pontiac- ..but maybe this discussion belongs on cardesignnews.com

Pontiac???? You're kidding right? You may not like it but comparing BMW to Pontiac???

I'm one of the few that actually likes Bangle's work (with the exception of the Z4 and new 6 Series Cab). Its unique, aggressive and ultra modern.

Looks good to me. Is that issue on the racks now? I'd also like to check out that Toyota car in that issue.

So, this BMW isn't coming to the US?

Well obviouslly you can't compare the two in execution- but in design complexity- I think the two are getting closer and closer together by the day.

At least you can agree that trained monkeys could have designed a better car than the z4- and that was all Bangles influence- ever since that frankfurt show car with the concave doors he's been gunning for that directoin.

I mean I've allwais been a huge BMW fan- my dad owns an e-36 m3 that I talked him into- and I really dug Bangles early work - but the latest stuff I really dont like with the exception of the M3.

All of the greatest car designs in history can be more or less described thematically in less than four lines (S2000 case in point)- try to descibe a z4- or a 7 series- way way too complicated.

bottom line audi got it right with the new A4- A6- BMW is kinda lost right now in my oppinion
