another person moving to Miami area
Hey guys,
I'm going to be moving from Philly in about 6 weeks for work. I'll probably be working in downtown Miami. My fiance is a teacher and will be looking for a position. I'll be looking to rent an apartment for the time being, somewhere in the $1,500-$2,300 per month range. I will also be doing a decent amount of traveling so I really want to make sure I'm in a safe area for my fiances' sake.
Any towns or areas in or near Miami that you guys would recommend that would be safe, have a good school district for my fiance to try and teach at, and wouldn't be a major commute? Safety and a good school district is my main concern, I don't mind the drive or sitting in traffic. Thanks in advance.

..the only thing i hear about Doral is that traffic is a nightmare
For what you save in rent in Doral... Coral Gables makes up for in location and lifestyle.
Within a 10minute car ride (from downtown CG) you have
- Downtown Coral Gables
- Sunset
- Coconut Grove
- Merick Park
- University of Miami
- MaryBrickell Village
- Brickell
- Key Biscayne
Easy access to MIA Airport, 826, 836, I-95 - plus the traffic isn't bad and there's plenty of beautiful side roads to get you where you're going.
Besides, in the $1700-$2000 Range you can get some really nice places in CG.

my office is on Coral Way, so i'm looking to be semi-close to that, as long as I'm within a 40 minute commute. But like i said earlier, I'll be doing a decent amount of traveling so i want to make sure my wife is/feels safe when I'm traveling. We aren't crazy party-ers but like to go out for dinner/drinks during the week and on the weekends. Thanks again!
Coral Way and what?? you don't have to be too specific, but Coral Way is a long street.
CG is much closer to Coral Way than Doral, but Doral is within a 40 min drive in rush hour. You'll have to come look for yourself now and see which you prefer - I myself would go Coral Gables..
