The new place is K1 speed. Right off I95 and Stirling Rd.

I haven't been there yet, but I've heard good things.. They are electric karts, but they claim to go 40-45 Mph. K1 speed is well known on the west coast, it might be worth a shot.
It looks pretty nice, I haven't checked it out myself.

20 bucks per race and most people run the track in about 48-52 seconds per lap

Track is asphalt and got good balance of straights and corners and hairpins etc. It's a track where Juan pablo Montoya tends to frequent when he's in town

Xtreme has good karts, bit expensive but not bad.

Opaloca is where all the real kart teams are based. Track sux, and so do they're rental karts, beat to shit don;t turn, egines are 10 years old and vary greatly between each kart. JPM goes there to use his mini bikes mostly.

K1, heard of it, never been.

Here's the track where karters race and practice. Homestead Speedway's parking lot, which they also use for autox. Haven't used their rental karts but i'm sure their well maintained and they're birel rental karts (same as my screen name)
They have a league. But for us who just want to go and do a few races between us they had told me a while back it's from 4pm till dusk.

In the end you get what you pay for. $10 at opaloca, have fun.

Having races at k1, opa locka and extreme recently here are the pros and cons of each

The opa locka cars were actually replaced a couple of years and are much better than they used to be. As far as the best track to race on of the commercial tracks this is the one since there is actually room to pass and the track is much more technical

K1 speed is a nice new facility and te karts are very torquey. The track is very narrow and short. One track was 28 second laps and the other is 20 sec laps. The karts are limited to 35mph but due to track size we were seeing gps speeds of 25 mph on the straights. If someone bumps or spins they will turn on the governor on the karts or even stop you all together.

Most of this is similar at extreme as the setups are very much alike
