Not related to your music choices but you just missed one of the biggest concerts of the year two months ago. I dunno if your into trance/house/electro but check out Ultra Music Festival next year. Ultra 2010 was ****** awesome for lack of better words.

Where in NY u from btw? Moved here permanently from Queens in 07.

I actually moved into my house here on Miami Beach the day before Ultra Fest started but i had so much work to do i couldnt make it.

Don't know about upcoming concerts but there are a couple of cool places for live music in downtown and the beach.

Transit lounge has a good mix of acts on weekends
Tabacco Road plays more rock and have great burgers late night
Jazzid is a chill spot on the beach that is a escape from the club crap

I have a ton of friends in the metal scene, Death Crown King and Behold The Ruins mostly, I know and chill with all of them and they're incredible musicians and cool people. They play a LOT of shows, so, I'll PM you and see if you wanna hit up one of the shows some time.

For major acts, go to Ticketmaster.com and search by zip code.

For washed out former big acts (I saw Quiet Riot there right before DuBrow died!), check out Hard Rock Live

But for the local, ethnic, underground, eclectic, obscure, etc etc, you can't go wrong with New Time's event calendar.
