Default Do you lock your doors?

From previous post of having my top slashed; I went ahead and had installed a clifford avantgauard 5.1, and the top is getting replaced through insurance. I have two friends recommend leaving the doors unlocked that way the thieves can see the seat locks and not mess with the car.
What do you guy/gals think?

Clifford Avantguard lets you customize the auto-lock setting.

Mine doesn't auto-lock.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Lock your doors.

it's not rediculous. in the 80's when alarms were getting mainstream. we advised our clients not to lock the doors if they had a ragtop. back then alarms that locked doors were relatively new. Now they all do it.

the unfortunate reality is that most likely they will not try the door before they cut the roof. Since most alarms lock the doors, they take it for granted.

the best thing you can do is make sure the alarm LED is easy to see. I'm adding them to my doors so if you approach the car from the front or the sides, they can see that there is an alarm.

they would rather deal with a car that won't make any noise than one that will.
