Default Driving to Key West

I'm going to be driving down the east coast of Florida next week - starting from my parent's house in Jacksonville on Sunday and going all the way to Key West...

Is there anything going on down that way next week that I should check out?

Can't say that I know of anything going on at this moment, but I can ask around.

Can't go wrong with stopping at Smathers for a couple hours, head down Duval for a drink, etc.

On the way down. Check out Holiday Isle at Islamorada.

If you dive or snorkel, try one of the trips from loue key to the nat'l marine sanctuary. Fishing is great. for bonefish etc go to The Lorilei on islamorada to find a guide. For offshore just pick the boat you like. Right after you cross the long bridge at Bahia Honda state park look to your left for a turnoff that goes down next to the bridge. Cool tidal pools there.

In key west, the party is everywhere.... enjoy. If you'd like a fun day trip take the ferry out to the old fort on the dry tortugas. Sunset cruise on a tall ship is fun too.

try Pepe's for breakfast.

have fun

Pit stop on South Beach. Go out to ocean and between 8th and 10th street. All the finest Miami honey's mostly topless. Make sure to wear a T-shirt that says Yo soy un Greencard and you're guaranteed to get some..

Don't expect any of that in Key West though. On the contrary Key west has some not so great beaches and dudes playin for the same team.. So unless that's your thing forget it and stick to Duval when you get down to Cayo Weso..

You mean not on the large beaches, you haven't looked in the right areas.
The beaches themselves aren't all that bad either.

As for the "dudes playing on the same team"...you want to open your mind and get with the times.
Not every guy here is gay, they're not all out to get you, etc etc.

Also, I believe its Hueso

TS: have fun when you head down, definitly do what Gary (fltfshr) suggested

I'll be staying at the Crowne Plaza in Key West on Tuesday and Wednesday nights...

What's close to there?

Kelly's (Kelly Mcginnises place) good food and black bottom key lime pie
It's in the old Pan Am bldg on Whitehead

for fun find Capn Ron Baird of no wake charters and charter his clothing optional sailboat He's in the marina. Has a 31 foot bombay clipper

get a couple jet skis and go up to snipe key and party on the sand bar

Walk through the old cemetary and check out the "Remember the Maine" memorial.. old old tombstones..

Climb the lighthouse at Truman Annex and shoot some pics...good pics also from the bar on top of the Conch hotel on Duval

I'm more of a fast-food guy, so I could only think of stuff around where I work

Pepe's = Caroline St across from Waterfront Market/Key West Bight
La Ti Da = 1100 block of Duval (right across from large gallery MTV Real World was filmed)
Blue Heaven = Corner of Patronia and Thomas St.
Mr. Johnston's = Assuming this is "Johnston's Grocery" across from Blue Heaven
Louie's Backyard = Corner of Vernon and Waddell
7 Fish = Elizabeth and Olivia
El Siboney = Catherine and Margaret (mom thinks it's Margaret)

Definitly some interesting things in the cemetary (accessed by Francis).
- Vampire's lair, the two little brick buildings in the middle of the place
- Tree swallowing a tombstone (may be completely overgrown by now)
- Raised grave. She was afraid of drowning, so her "box" is on 2ft pillars
