Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have 280 miles and the manual says to wait until 600 miles to hit Vtec. I want to wait like until 800 miles, does it really matters or how can I do? I've heard to raise the Rpms slowly after 600 miles day by day bring a little higher and higher until the beast its unleashed.
This always starts a controversy and I always get flamed for it, but here it goes...
"How To Break In Your Engine For More Power & Less Wear
What's The Best Way To Break-In A New Engine ??
The Short Answer: Run it Hard!"
Confused? For the long answer: Click here: Break In Secrets
Disclaimer: Even though I truly believe on this break-in method and personally do it to my new cars & bikes, I do NOT encourage others to try it and I'm not responsible for any damages that might occur while applying this technique (I'm just the messenger here
). I don't even know if this applies at all to the S2000 or vtec equipped engines in general. That said, rev it up!

Congrats on NOT buying the Suzuka. Too damn many of us down here already!
Oh, how I miss those days up in Vermont (only suzuka in the state at the time)
when I knew I was "special."
Then again, ain't many motivated to go crazy with the mods like me ('cept for my man John)
so we'll continue to represent the bluz cruisers while Jeff has brandished himself
as a Benedict Arnold for publicly proclaiming his secret lust for silverstone.
Here's a countdown for ya you f'ng trader! I should confiscate your Spugen duals
for such a tone transgression.

On a more serious note.... CONGRATS! Always glad to welcome another member
to the High-Rever's club.
Having said that, today in Homestead, I saw a temp-tagged white S2000 (Largo
Honda) with black interior ('02 right?)....definitely not an '04. It was being driven
by a woman who couldn't have been older than her teens. If I would of been carrying
South Florida S2000 club cards, I'd have threw her one at the stop light.
hint...hint....they'll fit nicely in my carbon fiber Honda-logo card holder.

Nice card holder Russ
About braking the car in hard, I've read about it but I will just wait until 600 just in case
. Besides I was told my warranty will be voided if they found out by looking at the internals that I rev my car over 5,500 RPM. I havent even passed 4K
Saw a silver S2000 today in South Beach, it had two caracters of South Park (Kyle and Cartman I think) in the rear.

Break-in period consits of proper heat expansion, so the rings seat good.
Just make sure the car is always warmed up properly for a good 5-10 mins before doing anything, that is extremely important...
Don't downshift harshly, just be pretty easy on it, altho you can still have fun, just be warned if you do have fun, park it quickly, so the block can cool, instead of getting on it just a little, then deciding to continue driving, that is really hard on it.
Just be sure to not do alot of highway driving during the break-in process, simply drive it easy, but be a little tough on it slowly, park the car, let it cool.
I recommend you do this as long as you can resist the foot mashing the gas to the floor.
- The longer u do the following, the better your rings are going to seat.
In my CRX, my B16A block that was rebuilt, the rings went bad, because I didn't do what I said above, so this is all from experience, my rings never sat right. Upon downshift, you could see lots of burning blue smoke, especially on downshifts.
I broke my B16A SiR I, by driving to Ft. Myers and everywhere else, to rack up 600 miles as quick as possible, but it's not "If you hit 600 miles, you can abuse the car", it's the fact you want to give it atleast 600 miles of what I said above, you can go WOT, you can have fun with the car, but if you do, be prepared to park it, and shut it off quickly, and leave it to sit until it cools fully down, this is very important.
Pistons aren't completely oval either, when the engine is cold, so if you decide to toy with it at all, be sure it's fully warmed.
