Default Found What Was Causing My Exhaust Rattle

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that my exhaust (Veilside TI) would rattle around 4.5 RPMs. Very annoying. I know that there had been posts from other owners with single exhausts - including Veilside TI- who had been experiencing similiar problems. Well as time went by the rattle got LOUDER and constant. It would even rattle at idle. So here I am driving around town with a dent in my quarter panel from the MORON and a car that sounds like it is about to fall apart.

Finally get the car up on a lift and discover that the weld on the first hanger after the cat is broken. At first I think ok, I really dont need that hanger. However, its not the weld holding the hanger to the pipe but rather the pipe itself cracked around the weld. Now I have a 1/2 inch hole in my exhaust.

I temporarily have a exhaust clamp on it. So, the search begins for a new exhaust. Still want a single but I am going to stay away from TI for the time being.

Veilside TI Single - Loved that the exhaust only weighed 5.5 lbs. Not fond of the hole in the middle of it.

Amuse R1 Titan or try the new J's Racing 70RS.

I have no doubt that the Amuse and Top Secret are of better quality than the Veilside. However, Mav don't forget your first Amuse failed and your NA.

And I just can't justify spending anywhere near a grand for a exhaust. It would have to gain me 20 horse.

Options I'm considering: Lightest Spugen Single, T1R, Spoon, Buddy Club, 5Zigen.

can't you go to a mufffler shop and have the pipe replaced with a stainless pipe, it would cost you a few lbs, but get what you have working......

Nope. Unfortunately, you can't weld titanium to any other metal.

Yes my first Amuse failed but it was because of the middle resonator. Now the new one is a straight pipe connected to the muffler/tip. No resonator, no problems for Amuse.

I would still recommend the Amuse R1 Titan, R1000, or the new J's Racing exhausts. Out of the ones you mentioned T1R is a good choice. I like Spoon too if you don't mind its looks.

Forced induction and Titanium don't seem to get along. I heard of another Amuse Dual suffering a problem with and FI engine. Are these coincidences or is there something to this? Would Stainless Steel suffer the same fate?

Try this new exhaust from Toda, stainless steel/titanium mix, very affordable at $1,500.
