Default Got bit on the ass by the rain, need help

Long story short I just wasn't paying attention, I drifted to the side of the road and spun out over-correcting to get back into my lane. I ended up in some trees off the side of US27. Luckily I wasn't hurt, to be honest I didn't even feel shaken around inside. I got it home and it drove just fine, but the body damage was obvious.

They towed it to Rick Case Honda as suggested by Geico, and told me they would get back to me on a repair estimate. Today I was told it would be a total loss.

I'm really hoping the dealership is just overcharging, so I came here for help hoping to find a cheaper yet reputable body shop. Do you think that this is possible or is the repair really that expensive? Thanks in advance.

Edit:
Just got off the phone with them, they mentioned that to repair it the top would need to be removed. They would also need to remove the fuel tank for welding, to remove the fuel tank they need to disassemble the rear suspension entirely. This costs about ~2600$ or so and pushed it into the total loss price. Is the dealer overcharging them?

Being that you s2k is a my03, I'd expect it to be totaled with that damage shown regardless of the shop.

Why are you struggling with the Insurance? .... dude, your car is in bad shape, maybe some frame damage, just use your insurance and move on, that's why is there, I am sorry for your lost, but be happy you are fine!

It doesn't apper to have frame damage ,the hit was high and it will be fixable but if the insurance co wants to write it off then it's their decition unless you you buy the car back from them and get it as a rebuilt title car. If you decide to fix it I have a complete NFR rear clip.

gl and glad ur ok

If it is totalled it might be better, thats alot of damage. I would rather start over with an un wrecked car than to fight to have the repairs done. Basicallt the whold back end has to be redone.

If the gas tank must be removed / replaced / welded back, probably there's @ least minimal frame structural bending and that's why I think the insurance is totaling it ...

On the other side, maybe this is a good buy @ auctions as salvage
