I'll be showing as well. Just a pointer, make sure you bring out some lights because last time it was dark as hell. people had to use their cell phones lights to see the engine bays...

This would be my first time entering a car on a show, so I have a question:
do guys with coilovers slam the car for the event to give a more aggressive stance? I can do that only when I get there, cuz my bumper is so low that if I drive like that it would arrive in pieces. What time do we have to be there? What time does the event start?

well they dont rate you on your roll in...

honestly get there early get inside (buy tickets way in advance!) clean the car up down and side ways and wax the hell out of it...and then slam it to your hearts content.

well the show itself starts at 5pm and ends at midnight...roll out sometimes takes a while and may be 1am till you get out sometimes...

judging i think if i remember starts at 330 or 430pm...tell me if i am wrong...its been a year...since miami last year...

OHHH and by the way...make sure you have a ride from the event because you are leaving the car there overnight friday...for the show on saturday ...they charge you late fee if you roll in saturday...

well do you need to know any rules and such as far as point system??

Hey S2k 2NV if your decide to be a judge *bats eyes* hehehe s2k family!!! i may be there in a scion but i drive an s2k...show some love! LMAO! ok ok i wont kiss ass anymore...

^ thank you inuyasha
I didn't know the car had to stay overnight that sucks. Do they ask you to leave the keys?
Yes, I'd like to get more information. Do you have a link with the rules and everything?
Thank you.

no you don't leave the keys. just lock your car and take the keys with you. you just need to disconnect the battery and if i remember correct, you need to have less than quarter tank of gas

no prob and its Joanne...

i'll see about finding a link

http://www.hotimportnights.com/info/faq.asp

heres the FAQ..which list the important info on your gas limit to enter the show..u cant roll in with full tank or they turn you away...safety haza

the rules go by NCCA (National Custom Car Association)

http://www.nationalcustomcarassociat...about_us.shtml

when you register for HIN you will automatically be registered as a member...so when your at HIN you will get a rule book...but if you wanna know sooner the details of judging ...become a member earlier so your better prepared before the show...or have an idea as to where you are at and o see looking at your car your stengths and weaknesses...as far as from a judges point of view...

thats if your serious...

if your going to have fun...just clean the car nicely have a good time...be near your car till the judge comes and tell the man/woman whats done to your car in as MUCH detail as you can...and then just go have fun...

most of the times you will see all the cars on friday on set up day which is friday...after you've been judge you can walk around and see everyone elses car all spiffy and finished displaywise...OMG and the free STUff from vendors LOL! i love taking that stuff!!! hahahaha!

no you dont give them your keys!! just lock up your baby will be safe...

when you've been judged lock up your car when you decide to leave your car durring the event there have been thefts by spectators and people have been beaten off cars for just hoping inside and playing around.....not to scare ya just be careful..

never had it happen but i'm paranoid anyone ever leaned too close my eyes go on them like a hawk! my baby!

hope i was a bit helpful and not scary... its fun to be apart of...but its also a bit of work for the people who take it seriously and with all the cleaning and preperation by the time the show starts i always find myself tired as hell...but i go every year...whether with my car or not i go to support my crew and help out and have a good time...

its like a big custom car lovers convention basically...there are negatives and positives there are some things i dont like about HIN but i'm just happy to be there apart of the show sometimes...and not so much the drama that goes on..

^ Great write up. Thank you Joanne. My car has only exterior mods (and not that many), so for me it's all bout having a good time and being part of it. We should reserve a spot to park all our cars together and have someone always keeping an eye on them.

no prob anytime i've been around the car scene and people competativly and also leisurly for like almost 6yrs now...

me yea all my mods are exterior for the MOst part...not custom wackey interiors that have no real functionality...tv screens in the doors...common! retarded...i have taste...as much as i want points i wont be tasteless about it! i'm not for the full custom fiberglass enteriors..a nice and pretty as they are i just picture it as a house of glass if you know what i mean...especially in an accident.....if i has a turbo or a heavly built N/a engine i'd have a better chance...but even so being one of the few Xb's in the US with the amount of bodywork thats been done...i still think i wont place...funny isnt it after all the hard work and uniqueness...we'll so i wont be shocked tho if it dont place...probely lose to an XB with TV's and speakers in every space of the damn car! ...so yea just have fun...what i'm planning on doing...making sure my car can look as good as it can with the spare money i have...sure it wont be perfect but atleast he made it finnaly...his de-bute...ive missed competing..

engine is a larger portion so i have some basic things like intake headers exhuast underdrive pully, ....but its an auto so i cant go all out and NO one ive talked to locally will even touch the car swap wise...was looking at the 2zz but i looked for a motor for like 6months locally with no luck....kept findig 1zz's (which is boost friendly but i wanted the "lift" of the VVTL-i)

parking together?? well that is difficult unless everyone meets up and drives down together early as hell...everyone will be placed as you roll in...once you roll in and ar placed in an area followed by the cars behind and in front of you in line thats where you end up unless roll in line together or you make speacial "team" arrangements in advance...

I will be thus far from what i know having 2 options... in tuner solutions vendor booth or if that falls thru and doesnt pan out with them getting a booth i will be parked with my crew Team Jinsoku..which will probely be by the dunlop booth...where we were last year dunno about this year yet...

any questions jst ask i'll try to answer with what ive experienced and know...i dont know it all but i'll try to answer what questions the links i gave may not be able to tell you

if you have things that need electricity...your car is off for the show and your battery will need to be dissconnected (they will check) which means you have to buy electricity from the convention center...dont remember if they still helped you out with an adapter or not...but i figure see about looking into one just in case to run any electronic equipment you may want to show off in your vehicle...get it ealry b/c if you ask for it day of show...its 150bucks depending on location if you get it day of show... or if theres a type of charger or battery you can personally bring perhaps to power everything for like 6 or 7 hours then do that....but as an entity outside of the car battery...a more portable source perhaps?

but to get it in advance a few years ago you had to contact the convention center directly and set it up through them and such...

OH BTW anyone entering dont get spooked by the "send us a pic of your car and we will evaluate your entering the show" BullSh!T thats only for cars they wan to use in the media for the show...f soething is really WILD they may want to use that persons car for a video or publication at the show...they wont not let you in if you dont send them a pic of your car...but if you want to go ahead...its not mandatory tho

late fee if you roll in on saturday i think was 25 bucks last year...dunno if they upped it...so in total you pay 75bucks for being late (in total) instead of the 50 for being on time on friday..

ok ok i'll shut up now i'm sure i'm boring stating the obvious to some...
