Very nice idea...

The thing is to have it installed outside of your house, say on the eve of your roof, you will need AC power for the camera. I wish they were truly portable where they used batteries

I just came across this today. Looks easy enough and inexpensive enough to implement for those who keep their cars outside: Outdoor Color Camera Kit w/2 Cameras.
Great product, i was looking into something like this ...thanks again for your ideas

Two quick cents worth. There are cheap TV tuner/ video capture cards for PCs and laptops. These usually come with a DVR program which you can use to make a video record of what your camera sees. You can start overwriting the files in a couple days if nothing bad has happened. There are also dedicated units (ebay or Sam's club) that have a built in HD, can record 4 cams at once, and will serve the video on the internet, or set off your alarm (or just beep) if anything of people size moves into the video screen. All for about $300 plus the price of whatever cameras you choose (get at least 420 line w/ IR LEDs).
Since you have to wire low voltage power out to the cameras anyway, might as well save the wireless cost in favor of just running out a piece of coax too.

My two cents. Cheers, Bobby

exactly what i was thinking. my boss does video surveillance systems for some of our customers and I was mentioning to him how much our cars are targeted and he was giving me some options. he actually had an extra capture card that he gave me but i never ended up buying the camera and such.

Sorry to hear about your car, Agi.

Very cool that other members are helping to get you back on the road.

I can't keep track of all the stolen seat threads, any more.
