seriously what sparked the sudden "forest fire" of interest in our seats to strt a stealing spree so bad its like a wildfire of cases within a pan of a month to now 2 in a week...

are they stitched with gold and we dont know it?

Summer's always been a bad time. I've been on this site for almost 4 years and as soon as school lets out, the thefts & attempted thefts increase. Of course, this year's just been crazy before school even got out...

 

LOL, you just described one of my secret dark fantasies. It almost came true last night. The more I think about it the more convinced I am that I missed the theft attempt by just minutes.

My alarm has a motion sensor, but I'm not sure if that's the same as a proximity sensor. It'll give you a warning if you swipe your arm a few inches above the top, which is pretty much all they got to do last night. I just cranked up the sensitivity a few notches and now it picks up people walking close to the car (so maybe it really is a proximity sensor also).

I'm not going to make an insurance claim. A Robbins top is around $600 and my deductible is $500. It's so close to the deductible that it's not worth having a claim on my record. Then again, maybe I should go for a factory Honda top? Is there a noticeable difference in quality?

I am starting to wonder if I pissed someone off and the whole thing was done just to #### with me. Obviously the scumbags weren't prepared to deal with the alram, so why did they try to break into my car? Wasn't it obvious that it has an alarm? That blinking LED is impossible to miss at night. And why did they slash the top from side to side? All slashed tops I've seen had a hole big enough to stick an arm in and unlock the door. Were they planning to take out the seats through the roof???

I'm beefing up the security around my car. I can't wait to catch one of those motherless ####s in the act.

 

sorry to see and hear about your violation. It could of been worse. Your case its an exact scenario of mine, except mine happened with less than a month of ownership.

Robbins top is only $600...but don't forget the install. Having installed my top myself, I can tell you its a time consuming job...if you have someone else do it for you, that can easily double the cost of the top alone.
