Default MY05 Stereo Options

Hi there fellow So Fla S2K owners.
With the arrival of my 05 S2000 immanent, I was wondering what YOU suggest for a stereo upgrade. It is my intent to keep the stock HU. I've been through the threads. Several say go with the Lucid Kenwood rears and that's plenty. Others say to change the doors, do the rears, and a few add an amp and sub in the trunk. Then theres those who insist on changing the headunit while others disagree with them.

I'm not looking to win awards nor be heard a mile away. My goal is to have more power / sound, keep it clean, and add some more bass. Also, any advice on a decent shop to do the work? Closer to Boca the better.

Your input is most appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Boca:

As you said, it's all preference. There are several good shops around. Two people to ask is Bullet and S2KSuzuka. They both have good shops S2KSuzuka is our resident multi-media guru so he'll have allot to offer as far as combinations.

Get that car, and down to Bahama Breeze in Pembroke Pines on Tuesdays! Bring your beautiful wife too. Better to break her in on our "oddness" early!!! lol

Thanks Jeff. I'll certainly cruise on down to Bahama Breeze on Tuesdays after the S2000 arrives. We are use to "oddness" lol Thanks for the info re: Bullet and S2KSuzuka.

add a jl sub, upgrade the stock speakers, add a good amp, you can keep the factory HU, but the HU does make a significant difference when you change it. Modifry's DCI works very well with after market HU to keep the Dash controls.

MTX, Xtant, MMats, Phoenix Gold: are great amps
MB Quart, MMats, Bostan Accoustic, make great speakers

I opted to go without rear speakers, I'm very happy with it, but that's an individual thing

I also have the JL sub (a great item).....I have an JL amp and MMATS front components.....MB Quartz also makes excellent components in my opinion, just make sure you have enough power to push everything...

Thank you for the feedback! Think I will cancel the OEM CD changer that the dealer was going to install. Unless the group feels that I can benefit with the OEM CD changer??

From the sound of it, my plan will be to have a system that consists of Modifry's DCI, nice aftermarket HU, front speakers, sub, amp and keep it under $700 or so.

As for the JL sub, I presume it is installed in trunk?

Also, do any of you recommend a shop to do the install that is knowledgable about S2000s?

Audio logic in Davie is familair and an excellent shop. However, I think you will be hard pressed to do all of that for 700 and have quality equipment and a good install.
I would suggest stages. sub and amp first, then door speakers then radio.

I for one have yet to upgrade my stereo. Audio Logic is very good and top notch and I will use them if and when I decide to upgrade.

Thanks again everyone for the input. I'm convinced...totally new system is in the works. Come to find out, one of my brother's friend does custom car audio by appointment only. He said that he would take care of me. When the project is complete, I'll share and post some pics. Now, if I can only figure out how to write this off on taxes..hummm...lol
