There are 4 HPDE groups:
HPDE 1 - Novice with instructors (this is where you start)
HPDE 2 - Same session but without an instructor
HPDE 3 - Solo, passing with point by (similar to Chin's group 2)
HPDE 4/TT - Open passing, expert group. Time trial competition takes place in this group with different classes.

The M2000 competes (or tries to) in TTS, come see Cliff's race widebody S2000 compete in TTB along with others. There are two races per day (Race group, cool stuff), and 4 time trials + a time trial shootout.

NASA is a bit more affordable than chin and once you work your way up to HPDE 4 Time Trial there is an element of competition (like an autocross) without the fender banging of wheel to wheel racing. Come out and support Time Trial/Time Attacks in the South East, we'll show Cali how its done...

I might be missing it on the site, but whats the cost for HPDE 1?

 

Hmm, seems like the prices aren't going to be posted until registration opens tomorrow. Basically the ballpark is $289 for one day or $389 for two days if I remember correctly for HPDE 2,3,4. HPDE 1 is $294 per day.

I want to say yes, but I'm not 100% sure.
