I realize this response won't help you much but it simply has to be done, given
the opportunity so gift-wrapped to Matt and I (I just bought, following the
recommendation of my state trooper brother, the newest K40, the 850
model while Matt owns the previous version; both exemplary
radar detectors).
K40
Valentine One
Remember....we set off YOU but you don't set off US. There's a reason for that.

Actually, Russ, the fact that you set other radar detectors off says YOUR detector is not properly shielded, therefore it's a piece of crap
What do you think is setting off the Valentines when the K40 is near it, radar envy? No, it's the K40's local oscillator leaking through the package due to insufficient shielding....sorry, if that's the case, I'll take my ultra-sensitive Valentine any day.

Actually, my detector does NOT set-off all detectors (not sure about Matt's earlier
version, the 650). I've operated alongside Joe's Passport 8500
with no problem. Only the V1 goes whacky and there is a reason for that (as I suspect you
know). It falses more than any other top-rated detector available and the principal reason
my brother doesn't recommend it. Direction arrows mean little to me when they're set off
by the entrance to Piggly Wiggly.
You won't convince me Dan, sorry. I've read all the reviews. Pro and Con.
It's a good radar detector, make no mistake about it, but the gap has closed and the
deciding factor for me came from 1) K40 pays your tickets for up to one year following purchase and registration and 2) this link:

Either way, I don't usually speed much so much of this discussion is moot.
