Default NEED HELP! PLEASE READ...

I recently bought a front bumper and a rear bumper for my S. I paid $250 for the fright shipping and I stated that the total weight of the bumpers including the box and the bubblewrap would be 30 lbs. (I figured it cannot be any more since they are plastic). Anyways, I got my bumpers with no damages on them. Around 10 days after I received them, I saw a credit card charge on my statement for $444.80 from the same company on top of the $250 I paid them. I called them and asked them what the charge is for and I was told that when they re-weighted my front and rear bumper, it came out 110 lbs on their scale . And since I signed the forms they faxed me before, they were allowed to charge me the extra costs. They told me that I need A PAPER WITH A HONDA HEADING THAT STATES THE MATERIAL AND THE WEIGHT OF BOTH THE FRONT AND THE REAR BUMPERS. ANY DEALERSHIP IS FINE.

Someone please help, these people are trying to rob me...

If you work for a Honda Dealership, or know some parts guy at Honda that can help me out, please let me know.

PS: I already called American Honda but they said they don't have the numbers availiable and they have to start an investigation which will take 4-6 weeks??

Dispute the charge with your credit card company bro. Specially if you paid with American Express. They rock when it comes to disputing charges. Good luck bro!

FWIW - beyond a certain size. I believe shippers calculate the weight by the volume of the object being shipped.

for instance if you were shipping just the shipping peanuts and it took the same space as the bumper... the shipping value would be the same.

youll have to verify this, but i think i encountered this before. ( this is esp true if it was 'expess shipped' )

how they do it is they take the dimensions and the weight and multiply them and get to the price. it is not based on just the weight or just the dimension.

The reason they charged me $444 extra is that the 90x50x30 and 30 lbs package that i states became 90x50x30 and 110 lbs, so basically they charged that extra because of the 80 lbs extra...

The back bumper must weigh a lot b/c when I had my front bumper off it weighed like 2 pounds Good luck getting this worked out, maybe you can get a check from them once you find the weights, there's no way it would be over 30 pounds.

They are "charging" you for weight AND space, ie; the dimensions of the item shipped. One of two things will happen..if you paid with your credit card (which is always a good idea) dispute the claim because you had a price "quoted" for delivery services. Or, you didn't read the fine print and this freight Co. is trying to rip you off. Good luck....

The solution is very simple... call your bank and dispute the charge. The majority of banks side with the customer, especially BoA, Citibank and AMEX. BoA returns the funds the next business day. Problem solved.

And you might also want to request a new card with a new account number in case the dealer trys to recharge you once they are notified of the dispute.
