Here's a big THANK YOU to Mitch (S2KSuzuka) for his help installing an improved sound system in my car. We spent about 10 hours doing a very neat and thorough job, and I am very happy with the result.

Details!?
OK, you asked for it:
Alpine 9886 head unit
MTX 4244 Amp
Infinity Perfect 6.1 front
Infinity Kappa 4.2i fill (rear)
Modifry DCI wired interface - works great!
Mitch said that I was going to want to add a sub ... and he was correct. But, it will have to wait. For now I'm really enjoying dramatically improved clarity and presence. I'm hearing detail in some of my old CDs that I had forgotten about.
It's a very stealth installation and with the radio door up you cannot tell it's other than stock.
The car lives in the garage, and there are home-made locks on the seats, so hopefully it will stay safe.
Did you leave 2 channels free on that amp for a sub? If so, I have some old 10" JL subs sitting in the garage from a previous car. I had one of them in my S for a while, but ultimately went with a 12". You're welcome to have one of them if you want to put together a trunk well enclosure.
Thanks Jeff. When I go with a sub I'll bridge the rears together and run the rear (fill) speakers with the head unit.
I would like to keep the trunk space available since I sometimes have to carry a bunch of stuff. I was planning to add the sub to somewhere in the passenger compartment (passenger foot well perhaps), but another option would to be to use the side of the trunk which allows me to keep the depth. I don't think I could use a 10" for either of these options, but if it's easily removeable, perhaps I could use the speaker in the well.
