Made it to just north of Savannah last night. hmmm our cars could use slightly more comfortable seats. other wise great trip so far. I will head out to Charlotte today and do the dragon sometime in the next few days. There is also a road called the Cherhoala skyway. it has nice wide 60-80 mph turns, I'm hoping to take a ride there as well. It's not too far from the dragon
Absolutely, the Cherhoala parkway we did last year. Great scenery. There are a lot of photo opps. there. Max. height is about 6000 feet so chew gun going up and down. A lot of ear popping.
Have fun and stay safe! BTW: I want to see pics when you get back.

That's another good road that any driving enthusiast should do when up that way. While there's lots of good scenery to see, especially at this time of year, it's not so easy to "leaf-peep" and pay attention to the roads at the same time....that is, if you're driving at slightly-higher-than-speedlimit speeds.

Kimmie,
We agreed on the term, "Spirited driving or Spirited speeds".
If you have time, there are a lot of awesome roads to run in that area. The Cherohala ends in Telico Plains TN. If you take 315 from Telico Plains west, it will either turn into or merge with 30. This is a wonderful road to run also. Take it to Hwy 64 and head south. This will take you through awesome twisty roads that run along the Ocoee river, where the held a majority of the water sports during the Olympics in Atlanta. The rest is too drawn out to write, but it is some nice scenery and roads. I haven't run the end of 64 back in a couple of years, so I'm not 100% on road conditions, but they were good enough last time. If you want to try this, and need more info, let me know.
