Question About PRM Intake
Well, your reasonings are opinions not facts. The only deduction was in Mitch's wallet from the loss of possible sale on a PRM. Not everyone wants the perfect balance of mods on their car. The PRM would of given him a better resource of air than the stock box within a fair price. Sort of like when Tommy was trying to sell his exhaust and someone asked if there was a dent in it....blew that sale for him (though situation was not meant in malice) You did the same to Mitch.
Sometimes in life, we got to hold our tounge. That would of been a good time though you have made some valid points post my first response.
No anger here.

Alex, you cannot compare dyno #'s from other intakes and/or exhausts. Each
S2000 is built within specific tolerances and some actually will take to a particular mod
better than others. Anyone who buys a modification item thinking they will get
similar results as another (who includes his own dyno) will be chasing horsepower
ghosts. Hell, you might even get MORE but certainly in a few cases, less. I
have a log book full of accelerometer runs (see my new local thread on the Tazzo) and my PRM resulted in
a slightly quicker car above VTEC. I was very judicious in testing as I've used
accelerometers for years now. It is a more "real world" look at intake tuning because
you CAN NOT, despite what any tuner might tell you, accurately access the benefit
of an intake on a dyno. A small fan blowing in front of the car is NOT going to mimic
the airflow of your S2000 moving at 80mph. No way in hell.
The PRM excels when the car is moving because the venturi principle, just as it
applies to fluids, works with air as well. The "heat bog" people claim the PRM is
notorious for IS an issue (but in truth, it is with just about any intake). It sells because most owners feel the benefit at WOT far exceeds the bog issue which ALL
intakes, to some degree, face. I was bogging last week with the AEM V2 when it
hit 90+ degrees. It simply cannot be eliminated down here. When you get right down to it, intakes especially, I feel most are a compromise of sorts. You can go with any AEM and get a deep resonance but sweat bullets every time it rains (if standing water in your area is a problem). As good as it performs, it does NOT sound as wicked as the PRM post VTEC. You might, and I dare say MIGHT, gain 2-3 more horsepower using the AEM (V1 or V2) simply due to the filter location being in front of the vehicle air path but your S2000 will not sound nearly as aggressive. The one benefit of having the filter so tightly encased is the chamber effect of the sound waves bouncing off the inner walls.
This is why the Comptech sounds so nice post VTEC and why the stock box
doesn't (blame it on the baffles which control those waves.
Tommy, I suppose writing "PRM sucks" is probably all you're motivated to
discuss about the subject but it doesn't really help COjOI in making a decision.
Whether or not we agree (we don't) on the issue shouldn't prevent you from
explaining to him WHY you think it's not a good intake.
I type about 85wpm so it's not much effort for me to type out my sentiments.
I don't expect anyone else to contribute novels but it would really help the
thread if you guys went into at least a wee bit of detail as to why you don't
like something.
Alex did and I countered (as did Jeff) with my own personal experience having
owned the darn thing. It DOES make power and not everyone who has owned
an HKS exhaust has lost power so it should only be common sense that not
everyone who buys "name your exhaust here" is going to make the same power
as some owner out in California.
Remember, some dyno shops are, shall we say, very elastic in their testing methods.
Positioning a fan directly into the engine bay while the hood is open is one of the most
blatant examples of a manipulated run. When was the last time you ran down I75
with the hood open?
Comparing dyno #'s is about as useful as a hooker in pew six. If you guys are
interested in some "real world" testing methods, see my Tazzo thread in the local
forum. THAT will put a lot of this BS to rest (for a host of mods).

This is an opinion thread guys...
Alex is perfectly justified in stating his OPINION.. as is requested at the TOP of the thread.
Jeff... No need to get nasty w/ your wording.. ( though you are the ranking official on in traffic acceleration performance )
Ranko.. Get yourself some pom poms and I'm sure jeff would love to have you cheering him on!
Russ... wow.. That could looks like a duck!
Tommy - since when is PRM a word?
Mitch - it was a really deep puddle...
and to everyone else... WOOOOOSA!!!! don't be hatin!

Furthermore,
My opinion of this thread is the following.
Jonathan said things in my sale posts that were imature and uncalled for. I sent him my opinion privately.
Then low and behold, one of Jonathan's friends, who almost never posts (except to bash BB) decided to ask a question, thus opening the door for more of Jonathans non factual opinions.
In this post, facts have been repeatedly been brought up to back the PRM. Interesting how the people that don't like the PRM have no facts.....
Alex, I have no problem with your or anyone else's opinion, it does however help when that opinion has some evidence to support it. I find little to no evidence on the negative side of the PRM
My beef is with Jonathan, and his approach to people selling things on this board, and the BS way of starting this thread. I could very easily bash every one of Jonathan posts (he sells stuff all the time) .....not my style. I would have let this stay private, if this BS thread had not been started.
Remember guys I have helped many of you with your cars even you Jonathan, and I will continue to assist with wiring things, and anything else I can do for the good of the people in this group
Jonathan, It's best not to sh_t where you eat
