Default Registering s2000 in SoFlo from NY

Hey guys, just wanted to get some insight on this since things are done different here.

I logged on to the flhsmv.gov to make an appointment (since FL doesn't appear to do walk ins which totaly sucks lol) to change my drivers license from NY to FL. I go to click on the fill out form part and it throws me in some endless loop to the front page so I can't do that. Guess I will have to fill out the form there. Will that be a problem?

Also, I am trying to get my plates and tags and got an insurance quote from Statefarm (who I used in NY) and they only quoted me to be less than 200 less than in NY. I found that to be crazy since when I registered my old Mitsubishi in Tampa some years back the rate paid and quoted was half of what I was playing in NY. What insurance do you guys recommend is best for SoFlo (broward county)?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

First off, welcome to South Florida. I use Statefarm and I'm sure it's not the cheapest, but I get discounts due to other policies with them. You will probably find that South Florida is higher than the rest of the state. I can't comment on Tampa, but when my kids went off to school in Orlando (UCF) we changed their address because we got a pretty good break on the premiums. Sorry, I'm sure that isn't what you wanted to hear. Hopefully some others on here can give you some suggestions on the best companies to use in South Florida.

It wasn't what I wanted to hear but it does confirm what the agent told me about SoFlo insurance. Thanks for that. I may just stick with them since I used them in NY and are pretty easy to deal with. I have also heard some horror stories with going with cheaper rate companies and trying to get paid out when something does happen.

thanks for the welcome and info!

Welcome to miami where the beach's are hot and the girls are hotter..

i think theres only like two places that allow walkins but you would have to go into the opa locka area and be there super early

as for the insurance thing this is miami no one in this place knows how to drive so insurance here is a little higher than most other places in florida.

Lol yeah I didn't want to be rude but even NY drivers are better. I didn't think that was possible

I will. I tried to go last week but I got home from work and passed out. Between the move, new office and this GOD DAMN HEAT (Not the Lebron kind) I was worn out lol. I will try to make it out tomorrow. My car is just insanely filthy

thanks, I am slowly getting used to the heat. But it was nice feeling a cooler breeze this morning as I drove with the windows down instead of AC blasting.

I will be out soon dirty S or not. Work just owns me right now.
