"...power comes from another Toyota sourced engine; a 3.5L V6, producing 276HP. Weighing in at a hair under 3,000lbs, that power should be good for 5 second 0-60 and 160+ top speed. Talks of a convertible and even a supercharged version are already circulating..."
I also saw this on the cover of CAR (the UK Mag) taking on the 911...
EDIT - Here's a review/first drive from CAR:

3K pounts on a car defeats Chapman's theory of power through light weight. the super charger for the Elise is lame (20HP gain) but I do love the 2010 Exige S (240HP) and they've shed 90 LB on the car. for a 0-60 @ 4 secs flat. It's got that Exotic/Ricer look, check this baby out and at $80K is a bargain

The used market on the Elise/Exige is actually quite surprising. You can pick up 2005/2006 Elises for less then new S2000s that's for sure... and some as low as $23000-$26000. Exiges too are now seeing sub $30K prices.
I was iching to pull the trigger on one before I got the S2000... but concerns over damaging the clams (expensive), and day to day use (no graceful way to get in/out and all the TADS) made me choose the S2000.
I have to admit, from time to time I regret my decision.
