Rick Case's Sh*tty A$$ Parts Dept
So I ordered some OEM engine bolts from Rick Case's parts dept a couple weeks ago, since they're right around the corner from my house. BIG mistake.
First, they did not have the parts I needed in stock, so they made me pay up front before they would order them (God forbid they have some extra parts in their inventory).
No prob, I do it.
Next, they tell me that the parts will arive in a week, and they will call me to let me know when to come pick em up. Fine, except a week goes by, and still no call. So I told my wife to stop by last week and pick them up (I assumed they had arrived when they said they would).
Here's where it gets ugly: When she gets there, she shows the guy at the parts desk the receipt for the order, and asks to pick up the parts. The guy -- [sarcasm]a real personable fellow[/sarcasm] -- goes to the back and comes back with 2 of the 6 bolts I had ordered.
He tells her that the rest of the bolts are missing, but that she will need to pay for these! She shows him the receipt (which is clearly stamped "PAID"), and tells him that WE ALREADY PAID. She also explained that a partial order does me no good, and that I wanted my money back. He is reluctant. At one point, my wife asks to see Eddie in Service. The exchange went something like this:
Caroline: "Can I speak to Eddie about this, please?"
Friendly guy in Parts: "We have three Eddie's here. What's his last name?"
Caroline: "I don't know."
Guy: "Well, good luck then."
Nice customer service, right?
Eventually, after much wasted time haggling, he refunded our money. Needless to say, though, I won't be going back there for any of my parts needs...
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a condemnation of Rick Case's Service Dept. I have ALWAYS gotten excellent treatment there, and will continue to use them...so long as I supply my OWN parts.

Sorry to hear that Aaron. I use these guys for all my oem parts. Quick shipping and good prices. They have never let me down yet.

Aaron,
I've need metric bolts for my car and there's a place by my house where I can find EVERYTHING in stock. All they do is sell bolts and nuts. The place is called Mitchell's Welding, and it's located by The Falls shopping center. That's a place you can go for when you need things TODAY. Otherwise, let me know what you need and I can get it through my contact at South Motors. On the contrary, their service isn't the best, but my friend in parts always hooks me up. And parts are there when he says they'll be there.

Don't even get me started on Pompano Honda - I am ready to go to the BBB on them the lying SOB's. Went in for a Check engine light - I was quoted 206.75 for repair - when I went to pick up my car it was $815.00. For $200 I do not care - at $815 would have gotten dirty myself and paid jobbers cost for the parts by making a couple of calls.
Make sure anything you do with those guys is in writing and CYA to the hilt. Some of my neighbors I have since found out have had similar problems with them. Would not spend another nickel at the place. In fact I requested that their service manger give me a call - they would not even do the courtesy of making a call. Not what I call very ethical people. Very smooth how they did it.

By law you're supposed to get an estimate on work done that is over a certain amount. And if they quoted you a price, and it goes over, they have to get your consent to continue working. Get an attorney and don't pay.

FL law is that anythng over 10% of amount quoted is not legal for a dealership to charge.
USCC Rule of contracts requires a writing to form a contract if amount over $500
Like I said very slick how they did it - quoted price of $207 to get OK - if I was familiar with car - bought it used about 2 weeks prior and not that that familiar with all the details of how car works. The secondary air induction air pump went - not what was described to me - they said small part had to do with gas tank EVAP system. Like I said low balled me at $207 then when I went to pic up car it was $815. If I would have known that it was the air pump they intended to replace I could have gotten it new for $453 and used for $325 and done it myself. Price they charged is fair to R&R and retail for pump. I could have asked that they remove and put back the pump they replaced but just consider it a lesson learned. Process would be to post bond and get release from mechanics lien in that manor.
I spent 20 years working in dealerships around this town and when I got into management I left as I could not handle the ethics - or lack there of. Most of you would remember the dealerships if you have lived around here tor a while. I just consider it a lesson learned and confirmation that the career change that I made was justified. When I calm down I will file complaints with both the BBB and the FL Dept of Agriculture and Commerce and let the chips fall where they may.
So my experiences with Pompano Honda service are
- no issue with their parts dept - just find a way to get jobbers price from them as Honda Motors has an excellant supply chain mangement system. You should be able to get just about any part within a week. If you know how parts are priced whatever retail is you should only pay about 70 or 80 percent of that through a mechanic that has a shop.
Personally would not spend another nickel at Pompano for any reason.
