Maybe for a Miata . There's been a lot of discussion about this car at Miata.net, but most enthusiasts think that at 2860 pounds it's too heavy to compete in CS (compared to a 2400 pound Miata), and too underpowered at 170 HP to compete in BS. There's no way it will be competitive with the S2000 that weighs the same and has an extra 70 HP.

I do like the styling and am glad that GM is making an attempt at a lightweight sports car.

 

It has the front end of the RX8, the front fenders of a Viper, and the tail of a Crossfire.

 

The new Miata looks better and will perform better.

 

Well, while we're at it, let's throw in a few other elements. I don't think there's enough mixed in there.

I didn't read anything else on that site, but my mom said it's supposed to be offered beginning in 2006 and will be around $20,000.

 

I thought I read somewhere that this car might possibly go Superchaged/ turbocharged after it's first year (Sky Redline?).

Even so, Saturn/ GM wouldn't boost it to the point a tuner would, so I wouldn't expect any more than 210 to 230 hp. Most likely still not a threat to even a NA miata, and definitely not to an S2000 because of the weight difference.

 

It needs an LS2.
