Sopranos...
I had a bunch of friends over at my house watching the finale and I almost got jumped because we all thought the cable went out.
I don't know about a movie coming out, I've heard rumors. But I think that they are going to include the full ending on the DVD when it comes out.

No movie!
Tony got clipped.
That's my interpretation. If you think back to the conversation he had with Bobby on the boat earlier in the season you'll see why.

ok.. explain please...
Remeber Tony's conversation with Bobby in the boat? Bobby says (I'm paraphrasing) "when they get you, probably it all suddenly goes to black". That's exactly what happened. No fade to black, just click! Lights out. Bobby also wonders if "you hear the one (shot) that gets you". Apparently not. They also referenced that conversation at the end of the previous chapter (Tony's flashback, when laying on bed at the safe house).
The person that gets Tony's attention at the end is the hitman. They make it seem like it's Meadow walking into the dinner but Tony's reaction wasn't that of a father greeting his daughter. It was like some stranger walked up to him casually enough to grab his attention but not to alarm him then BANG.
Most of the show is shot from Tony's perspective of the world. That was made clear on that last scene, how the camera kept switching to Tony's point of view. If the sudden black without an audible shot effect is accurate, then the ending is exactly what Tony would've experienced if the got clipped.

NOW, after I wrote that, I find this while browsing the net:
- The guy at the counter was Phil Leotardo's nephew. He appreared in an earlier show.
- The truck driver was the brother of the trucker that got shot by mistake in season 2 during Christopher's DVD hijack. He identified his brother's body.
And keep in mind that Paulie uses young black kids to handle what he calls "wet work". So that's at least three potential killers at the diner.
And that's my take on it
i also thought the cable ran out. i was watching on my comp so i ran into the kitchen and...
after reading that interpretation it makes sense, but i also want to know what the whole parking the car thing was all about

If she had parked faster she would have been sitting in the empty seat next to Tony, possibly discouraging the hit, since presumably the guy would have come out of the bathroom and have her in between Tony and him.
General thoughts on the net regarding the meaning of the ending were this:
They basically say that throughout all the drama that occured recently, life for Tony goes on as is, like it has throughout the show.
Some professor they interviewed said something to that effect as well, but also that people could interpret their own ending.
To me, I think it just leaves things open for a movie.

OK, here's my interpretation of the ending (copied and pasted from another post of mine):
