hey guys. Im looking into getting an s2k in about 3 months or so, hopefully an AP2. But I was wondering, I seem to be seeing alot of threads about tops being slashed and stolen seats, and the whole car being stolen sometimes. I want to know if in Ft. Lauderdale thats a big problem. I live in East Sunrise around University and Sunrise, and I commute to FAU. Do you guys know if those areas are known for top slashings, or having the car stolen or anything? I REALLY want the s2k, but I admit I'm afraid of these problems. So any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.


BTW I parked next to a black AP1 at planet fitness the other day, the owner came out and had his techno music playing lol. Nice car if you read this.

 

Get an alarm and u will be fine.

Just get the car and get an alarm and seat locks and make it difficult. At the end if they want it, they will take it. Sadly is how it works.


Poor soul I catch in the act. There is gonna be a lot of pain involved.

 

I live off sunrise and flamingo..no problems yet...

 

Dont let the thieves stop you from what you like... like said before get an alarm, seat locks even a CLUB will help and of course a good Insurance co. to get some peace of mind.

 

South Florida is a bad area when it comes to auto theft. My S2000 was stolen in Plantation near Sawgrass in broad daylight and I went and purchased another car. I went through two different cars, and had to go back to the S2000. In my opinion, it's worth the risk.

When I owned my S.. I too thought "They aren't going to get me." Errr WRONG!!! Top Slashed Seats/shifter knob GONE! That was about 3 years ago.. now they are taking steering wheels as well.

I recommend if you want to get the car. (1) KICK ASS Alarm (2) Seat Locks (3) Lots of praying and hoping!


That's just my opinion on #3 tho!
