Default Stupid thing

Anyone ever was so stressed with probs, and just wanted to go take a nice drive in your car that you knwo no one will touch. Normally you get in the car, turn key, cluch in, push start button raise clutch go get a drink till the the motor warms up?

Well as I was doing that normal routine today. (very stressed out day for me) as I was lifting the clutch up, blam my car hits the back of my old caprice and gets a few breaks in my veilside front bumpber i just stood there, took the key of, didn't even look at the car, put some shorts on get a towl and drove to the fardest beach about 20 min driving west and went for a swim to relax.
Now I hav eno car to drive till its all fixed up, bleh, i'll see if I can take some pics to see the damn thing.

Am I just the stupid one or did someone ever encountered something like this? Someone left the car in first gear?

And normally I check if its neutral, but think I was to stressed out.

Hence why I don't leave the car in first gear.

I have done it while parking though.. Ill forget to put in in neutral and let go of the clutch before I pull the key out... Clunk, stall

Man, your day went from bad to worse - sorry to hear! If it makes you feel any better, I always leave my car in gear and yes .... I've done it before (once) but caught it immediately with the brake while it stalled.

hehe nothing made me feel better then going to the beach and relax. It already happend, I accepted it, but at the time it happend GRRRR..... I tried stopping it with the brakes, but I park it behind my car about 2 inches or less so i can fit 3 cars behind each other in the garage. Hopefully i'll have pics tomorrow.

Been there, done that. Fortunately it was with a 1968 VW Beetle.

Hope that you and the car are back to your respective unstressed states soon.

You guys DON'T leave your car in gear???? My dad always taught us (my bro's, sis and I) to leave our car in gear.... for me it's a ritual, get in the car, turn it on, put in nuetral.

well i'm not stressed anymore. Its things you have to go thrue in life, now I know what the consequences are, and never trust your car if its in the garage, especially when you not living here. Tomorrow i'm bringing it to the shop so they can fix it for me.
