Default Taking the LONG drive from Chicago to Miami

What's up South Florida S2kers!

I'm about to take a long drive from Chicago to Miami. I'm going to be staying in Aventura at the Turnberry Isle Resort. Any recommendations on things to do for a 26 year old guy with an S2000? What are the recommended drives?

Any recommendations would be great....I can't wait!

I leave this Thursday...from CHicago to Louisville (visiting a friend)...then I leave KY for FL....my reservations are for Sunday night.

After a week in FL...I'm meeting some friends in Panama City Beach. Any recommendations on the best way (fastest) to get there from Miami?

Thanks a bunch....

I'll be the first to give in since all we have are lurkers.

If you are staying in Aventura... take a drive down A1A to South Beach. It should take you through the Bal Harbour shops which is nice and ritzy.

Depending on what you like to do there is lots to do. Now so we know where to direct you. Are you coming alone or with a friend? Do you like to go Clubbing? Do you like to drink? do you like to dance? Do you like to eat? What other things do you expect to do down here other than drive around with the top down all week long! Let me know.. and i'll let you know where to go!

My recomendation for people watching is South Beach! Day or night! My two favorite places to hang out are Wet Willies and The Clevelander. Both are on South Beach!

Good luck with the drive!!!

OK here goes NOTHING....

CLUBS : Level, Space, Crobar, Deep, Howl at the Moon, Banana Joe's, Oxygen.... don't know many others.

People Watch & : Wet Willies, Fat Tuesday (Both Cocowalk & SoBe), Mangos, Clevlander.. most are on Ocean Drive in South Beach.

Places to Eat: Mango's (as well as drink/people watch) China Grill, Versalles, PF Changs, Bed, La Caretta, Los Novillos, Larios, Cheese Cake Factory, Hustons, Flannigan's... damn i'm drawing a blank. I don't eat Sushi so i can't recommend a good place.. i'm sure someone here will.

Drive : Up and down Ocean Drive, Washington Ave, Collins Ave (All Miami Beach), US1 through the Gables. Head up for Ft. Lauderdale and do Las Olas/Riverfront.

Things to do/visit: The Collection in Coral Gables. Gotta check out them Ferrrari's. Village @ Merrick Park, Sunset Place, Lincoln Road, Aventura Mall has cool shops in it. South Beach.. obviously. Riverfront in Lauderdale. Lots of small bars to hit.

I think i've pretty much thought up enough for now. If i remember something else i'll post it. Good luck on the drive and

\"WELCOME TO MIAMI!\"

Damn Cindy! You're like a tour-guide! Next thing you know, the visitors are going to be shelling out $5 for your famous tour of Miami!

Actually, your suggestions are pretty helpful. Since all I can contribute is a bit on Ft. Lauderdale, I'll be quiet for now.

Wow...I can't believe I made it! I pulled into MIA this morning at 11AM!

I left Louisville, KY on Sat morning....drove all the way down to Gainsville and stayed over at some roadside establishment last night. I got up early and flew down the FL turnpike. YOU PEOPLE HAVE TOO MANY TOLLS HERE!!!! I thought IL was bad!

The property I'm staying at is amazing....The Turnberry Isle Resort and Club. Wow....there were nothing but Mercedes, BMWs and Bentleys parked out by the main entrance. Who cares...I still would rather drive the "S"! I'm just gonna chill tonight....I'll check out MIA tomorrow.

Can anyone recommend a Honda dealership I can go to? I'm staying in Aventura. Also...COSTCO?!? Do you guys have them here?

Thanks for the help....so far your city looks gorgeous from my balcony!
