One thing you we might want to do is take a look at everyone's retainers and keepers when doing the valve adjustments. You would think it would go without saying, however if you don't know what your looking for it is easy to miss. The last time Frank and I had a valve cover off an S2k (d.h on s2ki) we noticed the retainers were not uniform and it turned out his car was still running symptom free but he did say he had a bad over-rev recently. Hopefully spotting that saved his motor (I believe he was getting a new retainer/keeper set).

Also, Keith do you need any other extra tools? Do you have enough feeler gauges, oil pans, etc to accomodate working on multiple cars at a time? I can bring a few sets of wheel ramps, jack stands, or jacks so we can work on as many cars as your area can accomodate at the same time. It might speed things up. I've got the tools to do everything you can think of on an s2k and can bring spares to help out if it will speed things up. I added myself to the valve adjustment list though because I've done it on other cars but not in a long time and not on an s2k so I'll let one of our valve experts do that and I'll brush up on it and lend a hand after. I'll also lend a hand with any fluid changes that need done.

I'll bring some spare fluids too just in case. I know I've got plenty of the new Honda MTF, might have a few quarts of LE607 for diff changes also.

If we are doing the CDV removal (for wuchan I think it was?) we need to make sure there is a good pick set there.

Count me in! I've been waiting for a good time to get to know the South Florida members. My car only has 15,000 miles and doesn't need an oil change. I'm thinking a tranny fluid change might be good to do, and put me on the list for a valve adjustment. I know there's a lot of people ahead of me, but at least I'll have a spot.

And if you need me to bring food and drinks, just let me know.

BTW: I know you guys need some more help, and because I don't know a thing about engine work, I'll offer to do the V1 Radar hardwire install. At least I Know about electronics. ; )

Ya at 15,000 miles you might want to do the diff and tranny fluid changes. The manual might not call for them yet, but its the general opinion from members like Xviper and such on s2ki that a s2000 that gets driven hard should probably see a diff and tranny fluid change every year or about 15,000 miles. The first one is more important than the next ones anyway (on the diff anyway) because of the break-in. I did mine at like 8,500 miles.

The valves could probably benefit as well, CoralDoc (Josh) and a few others have posted that a lot of s2000's come straight from the factory with valves that are in spec, but hardly uniform.

Have you done a hardwire install on an s2000? I'm sure there is an easy wire to tap someplace, but I haven't look it up yet. If you know where to tap, would you mine giving me a hand hardwiring my Escort 8500? Been meaning to do that but never looked up the wiring diagrams to see what is if there is anything up high that I can tap into (I want to put it on the visor).

Sounds good, I'd definitely like to have that stuff taken care of.

As for the hardwire, I've done installs in Honda's, BMW's, MINI's, Lexus's, VW's etc. I don't know, for some reason all my friends have seen mine and everyone has asked me to do theirs every time they get one. I currently have the Escort hardwired in my S2000 and it's sitting up top to the right of the mirror. I could definitely do it for yours. If I'm not doing an entire system install, normally I'll just wire the power to the fuse box and find a ground under the steering column that works. Some cars take me 15 minutes and some take me a little longer if they're newer models; like my friends 06 GTi.

Sounds good. Did you use the Passport Hardwire wire that they sell? If so I'll pick one up before then. I'd love to have you mimic your method on mine. I'll help with the fluids if you help with the hardwire =)
Yeah just buy the hardwire from their site. That's the best place to get it. You should have it in time for the tech day. And I would definitely appreciate the help w/ the fluid changes. Where do you think is the best place to purchase the fluids that I need before the tech day?

We are going to need oil pans and 5 gallon buckets. Please post if you can bring any.

Also try to bring some shop/paper towels.
