Default Top slashed on the 30th at night

On the night of the 29th I arrived home at 11:00 PM, I slept in and went out to my car at 12:30. The drivers side was slashed about 10 inches. Nothing was taken from the car or damaged inside (I do have seat locks). However, after waiting 3hrs for the police to show up for the report, I then drove the car and noticed a piece of plastic missing from the left side of the steering wheel. Does anyone know what's up with that? My only thought is that they may have wanted the steering wheel or air-bag.
What makes this story slightly more tragic is that I just replaced the top with a honda oem top last month; My insurance said they would replace it with a honda top since I have the receipts which is good.

Thanks

Warning thieves are up to it again
They are always at it, we just dont hear about it cause some of those owners are not on the forum like you and i. Seat locks were your best investment, you should have had an alarm aswell as that would have saved your top. I would get on it ASAP once they replace your top.
