Thumbs up Top wear & tear

Hi all!

A coworker of mine has an S w/ about an inch sized slit in the top. (Probably due to wear & tear, not a theft attempt.) Anyway, she'd like to get it fixed. Can anyone suggest a place in the north end of Broward or south end of Palm Beach County?

Other than telling her to slap on some electrical tape, I'm useless.

Thanks!

Get in contact with cyclon36. he has a group buy for a robbins top. I got mine for 590.00 with glass window. I recomend to get it installed. I did mine myself and it took me 8 hours and it was a big PAIN IN THE A$$.

Kim, try Pixie at Rick case, it needs to be replaced and it's under warranty. What's her mileage?

I doubt it's under warranty. I think it's a MY00 or MY01. Not sure on the mileage.

quick on the trigger there..Ive been driving with my top repaired without any problems for 2 years

If insurance wont pay for it, and she doesnt want to shell out for the new top yet this is how I did mine.

take strong thread ( or double up regular thread) and sow the rip back together. It might help to slightlly open the top so that it has some slack in it and isnt as tight.

Once its together again smear a liberal amount of waterproof silicone glue to both sides of the cut gluing it, and making it impervious. once this as dried you can glue a patch high quality black canvas onto the top to conver up the sow marks and the glue.

Obviouslly you will see the piece of canvas on top of everything, but if you cut it to match the contour lines on the top it basically dissapears. Ive had mine for a while and its held up fine, and is basically invisible...and a hell of a lot better than the cost of the replacement outright for now.

Sounds slightly MacGyver-esque! I like it. I'll pass on that suggestion and the others about possibly needing to resort to a replacement.

advance auto also sells a vinyl repair kit. i suck at applying it so it looks like crap but i patched a similar rip from the inside and it doesn't show much on the outside. just gotta put the adhesive on and make sure when the top is down it doesn't stretch and open again. i rather do that than spend the $$$ to get a new top right now to have some asshole thief cut my new top up and pay a deductible AGAIN to have it replaced... soooooo it'll stay that way until it annoys me enough.
